Governor El-Rufai Blames PDP For APC Problems

Mallam Nasir El Rufai, the governor of Kaduna state has blamed some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) elements for the division in the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC).
Speaking on Thursday, November 12, in a Hausa radio programme, the governor noted that those agitating for the filling of party positions were ignorant of the party’s constitution, Today.ng reports.
This was in reaction to agitation by some APC chieftains from the Kaduna state chapter, who petitioned the national secretariat, asking it to compel the party to fill the positions that became vacant following the elevation of some party members to appointive and elective positions.
The agitators cited Arch Barnabas Bala Bantext, who doubles as the party’s chairman and deputy governor of Kaduna state as well as Alhaji Bashir Saidu, who is both secretary of the party and commissioner of local government, and 11 other party officers at both state and federal levels.
According to El Rufai, those agitating for the filling of party positions were members of the PDP who decamped to APC in order to contest for elections.
The governor pointed out that the vacant positions have been filled by the deputies in acting capacities.
He added that the only way that a substantive party officer can emerge to fill the said vacant positions is by a special congress, which only the national secretariat can organise, in accordance with the party’s constitution.
Recall that the governor  had been criticized by many for giving out top positions in the state to his close friends, relatives and non-indigenes.
